National Museum of China

The National Museum of China is a massive building on Tiananmen Square with galleries filled with objects spanning all periods of Chinese civilization. The collection ranges from ancient tools and weapons to ceramics, metalwork, and intricately carved stone pieces.

The building was completed in the early 1960s as part of a major construction campaign during the founding era of the People's Republic. Since then, it has served as the primary institution for preserving and presenting the historical record of Chinese civilization.
