Beijing Railway Museum, Railway museum in Qianmen Subdistrict, China
The Beijing Railway Museum displays a collection of 40 locomotives, including steam engines, gas engines, and electric engines across 16,500 square meters of exhibition space.
The museum building was initially constructed as Zhengyangmen East Railway Station in 1901, marking the beginning of modern railway transportation in northern China.
The museum exhibits document railway development through photographs, models, and artifacts that demonstrate the transformation of Chinese transportation over the past century.
Located near Tiananmen Square, the museum opens from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM every day except Mondays, with access through bus routes 403, 629, and 813.
The museum contains the first domestic steam engine manufactured after 1949 and special trains that transported national leaders, including the Mao Zedong Train.
