Victoria Towers, Residential skyscraper in Tsim Sha Tsui, Hong Kong
Victoria Towers is a residential complex of three 62-storey, 213-metre towers at 188 Canton Road, at the corner of Austin Road in Tsim Sha Tsui. The towers rise from a shared podium base set on pale columns, with planting along its upper edge; their light beige facades are covered in dense rows of rectangular windows and narrow balconies, and slightly projecting frontages give each tower a ribbed surface. The podium holds the three-level Victoria Mall and a car park. The complex was designed by Rocco Design Architects (Rocco Yim) and holds 987 flats.
The site was the Canton Road Police Quarters, vacated in 1997 and demolished after appearing as "Wan Chai Police Station" in the film Young and Dangerous 4. The land was sold by tender in 1999 to a consortium led by Cheung Kong Holdings, with Hutchison Whampoa and CITIC Pacific also involved. Designed by Rocco Design Architects (Rocco Yim), the towers were completed in 2003, and residents moved in during September 2002.
The three-storey base mall, Victoria Mall, opened with a ParknShop superstore and the Golden Dragon Boat Seafood Restaurant, plus small shops mostly run by estate agents. ParknShop closed its second-floor space in February 2007 and later reopened on the ground floor, moving back up as a Fusion store in 2014. City University's SCOPE rented the third floor for language courses.
The complex offers parking spaces, a clubhouse, and gym facilities with direct access to Jordan and Austin MTR stations for easy transportation. The location allows visitors to explore the surrounding area on foot and provides excellent public transit connections.
Each of the three towers features specialized resident-only amenities including a movie theater, computer room, dance studio, and beauty salon. Such dedicated recreational spaces within residential buildings are relatively uncommon in Hong Kong's housing landscape.
