Labrang Monastery, Tibetan Buddhist monastery in Xiahe County, China.
The monastery contains six institutes of learning, forty-eight temples, and numerous meditation halls spread across 866,000 square meters of land.
Founded in 1709 by the first Jamyang Zhaypa, this monastery became a center of Buddhist education and drew scholars from Tibet, Mongolia, and surrounding regions.
The monastery maintains six colleges teaching Buddhist philosophy, medicine, astrology, and meditation, following traditional Gelugpa school educational methods.
Visitors can access the monastery grounds daily, with guided tours available in multiple languages through the main prayer halls and meditation chambers.
The monastery holds a collection of Buddhist texts written in gold and silver ink, stored in a dedicated library containing over 60,000 manuscripts.
