Nam Cheong station, Metro interchange station in Sham Shui Po District, Hong Kong
Nam Cheong Station is a metro interchange in Sham Shui Po District, Hong Kong, built at ground level beneath the West Kowloon Highway. It has four platforms and six tracks, serving two separate lines on the same level.
The station opened in December 2003 as the western end of the West Rail line. When the line was extended in August 2009, it became an intermediate stop rather than a terminus.
The station shares its name with a nearby street and housing estate, both named after a local figure who supported community projects in the area. Travelers passing through will notice these names on signs around the exit, marking the connection between the station and its surroundings.
The station allows a direct cross-platform transfer between the Tung Chung and Tuen Ma lines without leaving the paid area. Signs throughout the station are easy to follow when switching between the two lines.
Although the station sits at ground level, it is fitted with platform screen doors, a feature more commonly seen in deep underground stations. These doors line up exactly with the train doors and form a full barrier between passengers and the tracks.
