Puli Bridge, Suspension bridge on the G56 Hangzhou-Ruili Expressway near Xuanwei, Yunnan Province, China.
The Puli Bridge stretches 1,040 meters across a narrow stream beside the Gexiang River gorge, with its main span measuring 628 meters and towers reaching 156.5 meters in height.
Completed and opened to traffic in August 2015, the bridge was constructed using innovative rocket-assisted cable launching techniques to span the challenging mountainous terrain between Yunnan and Guizhou provinces.
The bridge symbolizes China's infrastructure progress in connecting remote mountainous communities and has become a site for adventure tourism, including extreme sports like rope swinging performed in 2016.
The bridge reduced travel time from Xuanwei to the Guizhou border from four hours to just one hour, facilitating regional trade and improving transportation efficiency across difficult terrain.
At 485 meters above the valley floor, this structure ranks among the world's highest suspension bridges and features an aerodynamic steel box girder deck just 16 millimeters thick.
