Dafo Temple, Huize, Buddhist temple in Huize County, China

Dafo Temple, also called Jinshan Temple or Rulai Temple, stands at 483 Zhongping Road in the Jinzhong subdistrict of Huize County, Qujing, Yunnan. The complex has three parts: the temple itself, a three-courtyard Buddhist compound facing north, with the Huoshen Temple on its east side and the Niu Family Ancestral Hall on its west. Behind the Sakyamuni statue in the Great Buddha Hall is a red-fir screen with a ruyi mirror and 17 Buddhas in relief.

Dafo Temple was first built in the early Qianlong reign of the Qing dynasty, and its complex also takes in the Huoshen Temple on its east side and the Niu family ancestral hall on its west. In May 1935, during the Long March, the Ninth Army Corps of the Red First Front Army passed through Huize and set up its headquarters in the ancestral hall, under commander Luo Binghui and political commissar He Changgong. In 2012 the Dafo Temple and Huoshen Temple building group was listed as a Yunnan provincial cultural relic protection unit.

The complex holds three units: the Buddhist Dafo Temple, the Huoshen Temple to its east, and the Niu Family Ancestral Hall to its west. The Huoshen front hall honours the civil and military wealth gods, the rear hall the fire god Zhurong Dadi; the ancestral hall's third courtyard holds memorial tablets. The carved red-fir screen behind the Sakyamuni statue, gilded and set with a ruyi mirror and 17 relief Buddhas, is called "one light" among Huize's "five sons and one light" relics.

The complex sits at 483 Zhongping Road in the Jinzhong subdistrict of Huize, with Dafo Temple in the centre, Huoshen Temple on its east side and the Niu family ancestral hall on the west. The three parts are entered as one group, so allow time to walk through all of them. The Red Army headquarters rooms in the ancestral hall are a protected revolutionary site.

Behind the Sakyamuni statue in the Mahavira Hall stands a screen of three red fir panels, carved with 17 Buddhas in relief around a central ruyi mirror and gilded with red gold. It is the "one light" of Huize's "Five Sons and One Light" relics, said to have been made by the carpenter who built the Jiangxi Temple and lodged at Dafo Temple.
