Sha Tin Park, Urban park in Sha Tin, Hong Kong.
Sha Tin Park is an urban green space with gardens, pavilions, and an amphitheater along the Shing Mun River in Sha Tin, Hong Kong. The space spreads across several terraces with walkways, seating areas, and sports courts near shopping centers and public buildings.
The space opened in 1988 on land reclaimed from Tide Cove. Sections of the former Sha Tin Airfield military base were integrated into the layout.
The name refers to the district of Sha Tin, which transformed from a rural village into an urban center. Families use the lawns for weekend picnics while older residents practice tai chi on the open squares early in the morning.
Several entrances lead into the space from the riverfront and nearby streets. Playgrounds, sports areas, and paths are freely accessible during daylight while small kiosks offer refreshments.
A corner is dedicated to artists who display and sell their work during weekends and public holidays. The scented garden holds plants such as Michelia figo and Osmanthus fragrans that release natural perfumes.
