The complex opened in January 1987 as a major addition to Sha Tin's cultural infrastructure. Management transferred from the Regional Council to the Leisure and Cultural Services Department, shaping the cultural offerings of the district since then.
The venue hosts dance performances, theatrical productions, music concerts, and art exhibitions throughout the year, reflecting the diverse interests of the local community.
