High Rock Christian Camp, Christian recreational camp in Sha Tin District, Hong Kong

High Rock Christian Camp, also known as Ling Kee Camp, occupies a small hill east of Che Kung Temple MTR Station in Sha Tin. Its core is the former Sha Tin Police Station, built in 1924: a U-shaped block with a Chinese tiled roof at the front, British red-brick walls, iron-framed balconies with railings and wooden stairs. The site now provides 72 beds in rooms for 2 to 10 people, activity rooms, outdoor space and a barbecue area.

The building opened in 1924 as the old Sha Tin Police Station, facing the police station on the opposite hill. During the Japanese occupation it served as a Japanese army command centre because the un-reclaimed site overlooked all of Sha Tin. After the Chinese Civil War missionaries turned it into an orphanage, which added the Christian Ling Kee School and kindergarten in 1964; the orphanage closed in 1966 and became part of the school in 1973. The Hong Kong Missionary Society took over the complex in 1980, and the former police station was graded a Grade II historic building on 31 August 2010.

The site's name comes from Ling Kee School, which occupied the buildings from 1973 until the Hong Kong Torch Foundation took over the complex in 1980. Since 2008 it has run as a retreat centre open to people of any religion, hosting quiet retreats, seminars, training camps, workshops and adventure training.

The main entrance is about 3 minutes on foot from Exit F of Che Kung Temple MTR Station. The site is best reached by walking uphill, so comfortable shoes and some time are helpful for the journey.
