Suzhou Dushu Lake Higher Education Town is an educational district near Dushu Lake in Suzhou spanning roughly 25 square kilometers and housing more than 20 colleges and universities. The area includes student housing, shopping centers, the Dushu Lake Library, a sports center, and various restaurants.
The district was established in 2002 as an educational zone and reached a key milestone with the opening of Xi'an Jiaotong-Liverpool University in 2006, the first Chinese-British university approved by Chinese authorities. This founding marked an important step in international higher education cooperation.
