Tsuen Wan Centre

Tsuen Wan Centre comprises 19 high-rise residential towers arranged across a substantial estate in the New Territories. The buildings form a self-contained neighborhood with an integrated shopping arcade and direct transit connections.

The estate was built between 1980 and 1982 by Sun Hung Kai Properties during Hong Kong's rapid expansion into the New Territories. The project represented a major urban planning effort to provide housing for the growing population moving away from central areas.

The towers carry names of major Chinese cities, reflecting the strong ties between Hong Kong and mainland urban centers. Walking through the estate, you notice these city names displayed on the buildings, creating a connection to places across the region.

The estate is easily accessible via public transit and features pedestrian walkways connecting the towers with ground-level shops. Wear comfortable shoes, as distances between the towers are longer than they initially appear when navigating the complex.

Each building bears the name of a Chinese city, a deliberate choice to symbolize the connection between Hong Kong and the mainland. This city-naming approach is uncommon among Hong Kong's residential estates and gives the complex both visual and conceptual distinctiveness.
