Tanner Hill Estate, Public housing complex in North Point, Hong Kong.
Tanner Hill Estate was a residential complex with two towers, Yellow Crane Tower and Pine Tree Tower, housing approximately 590 units across about 9,810 square meters. The layout combined living spaces with ground-level services including a general store and gas delivery systems to meet residents' everyday needs.
The site began in 1961 as Shu Ku Street Low-Cost Housing before being renamed Tanner Hill Estate to reflect its district location. Decades later it was demolished in 2000, clearing the way for a different type of residential development.
The estate took its name from the Tanner Hill district location, and daily life centered on the residential towers where neighbors encountered each other regularly. The shared facilities and close quarters naturally fostered a strong sense of community among those who lived here.
The complex was situated in North Point and designed for easy foot access, with shops and service facilities on site for daily errands. Proximity to public transportation made it convenient for residents needing to reach other parts of the city.
The site stood out for its self-contained design, offering everyday services from groceries to gas and kerosene delivery directly within the grounds. This integrated approach to housing ensured residents had access to all essentials without leaving the complex.
