Zhicheng Yangtze River Bridge, Steel truss road-rail bridge in Gujiadian Town, China.

The Zhicheng Yangtze River Bridge is a steel structure with truss design that spans 1742 meters across the river. It carries two railway tracks and vehicle lanes within a single framework, allowing both trains and cars to cross simultaneously.

The project began in 1965 as a railway-only crossing but was redesigned in 1970 to include road traffic, opening in 1971. This shift during construction reflects how transportation needs in the region were evolving rapidly.

The bridge connects communities on both sides of the river and has served as the main crossing for local people and trade for decades. It remains central to how residents move through their region and shapes the landscape they see daily.

Access to the bridge is available from both riverbanks and traffic flows continuously for trains and vehicles. Visitors should expect the bridge to be actively used throughout the day with regular train and car passage.

The bridge's main span reaches 160 meters and is supported by several smaller spans on either side. This design choice shows how engineers at the time had to solve the challenge of crossing the deepest part of the river while maintaining strength.
