Trend Plaza, Shopping center in Tuen Mun, Hong Kong.
Trend Plaza is a shopping center in Tuen Mun with North and South Wings housing numerous retail stores and restaurants along Tuen Hop Street. The complex includes spaces of varying sizes designed to accommodate different types of businesses.
Trend Plaza was completed in 1988 by Henderson Land Development on reclaimed land outside Castle Peak Bay typhoon shelter. The North Wing was renovated from 2005 to 2007 for over HK$50 million, adding a glass curtain wall and open-air footbridges. The South Wing was renovated from 2009 to 2012.
The name Trend Plaza is rendered in Chinese as 屯門時代廣場, tying the mall to Tuen Mun. The South Wing was aimed at younger shoppers, while the North Wing's third floor is almost entirely taken by the department store Citistore, which replaced the fashion store id:c in 2013. The mall's podium sits on land reclaimed from the sea outside Castle Peak Bay's typhoon shelter.
Trend Plaza sits on the third-level pedestrian deck of Tuen Mun town centre, linked by footbridges to Tuen Mun Town Plaza, Tuen Mun Cultural Square, V city, Tuen Mun Park and Tuen Mun Station. Stairs on the North Wing's third floor lead up to the residential garden podium. The complex is split into a North Wing and a South Wing.
The North Wing's second floor once held the A and B halls of Tuen Mun Cinema, 18,550 square feet of usable space owned by the Lau Wong-fat family and sold in May 2005; in 2007 the site was divided into 14 shops. The third-floor footbridge also links to Tuen Mun Town Plaza, Kam Wah Garden and V city.
