The residence complex spans 2,490 square meters with multiple structures including original houses, a memorial hall, and an ancestral temple.
Built in 1925, the residence belonged to Chinese military leader Peng Dehuai who later faced political challenges due to his criticism of Great Leap Forward policies.
The memorial hall presents exhibits about Peng Dehuai's life and contributions, reflecting changes in Chinese historical narratives across different periods.
The residence opens to visitors as a national protected cultural site, located 38 kilometers from Mao Zedong's birthplace in Shaoshan.
The site contains eight preserved traditional huts where Peng lived with seven family members before joining the Hunan Army in 1916.
