Liangzhu Museum, Archaeological museum in Liangzhu Subdistrict, China
The Liangzhu Museum spans 9,500 square meters across four distinct volumes connected by landscaped courtyards, featuring Iranian travertine marble walls and glass surfaces.
The museum displays artifacts from the Liangzhu civilization, which flourished between 3300 BCE and 2300 BCE, discovered during archaeological excavations in Zhejiang province in 1936.
The exhibition halls contain collections of refined jade artifacts and pottery that demonstrate the advanced craftsmanship and social structures of the Neolithic Liangzhu society.
Visitors enter through a main hall that provides separate access to permanent and temporary exhibitions, with multiple pathways allowing flexible navigation through the galleries.
The museum structure rises from a manufactured lake, accessed by bridges that reference the ancient water management systems developed by the Liangzhu civilization.
