Legislative Council Complex, Legislative building in Admiralty, Hong Kong.
The Legislative Council Complex is a legislative building located in Admiralty that houses the main chamber, support offices, and meeting spaces. It also includes public gardens and a research library where official documents and records are stored.
The building opened in 2011 and was the first dedicated legislative headquarters in Hong Kong, ending decades of the Council meeting in shared government spaces. This move reflected the growing need for a purpose-built facility as the institution expanded.
The Hall of History inside documents how the Legislative Council evolved from its earliest forms, showing visitors how this institution has adapted over the years.
The complex has multiple entrances and uses elevators and stairs to connect different sections throughout the building. Security screening is required at entry points, so allow extra time and check ahead for visitor access policies.
The main chamber uses an engineered light funnel to bring daylight deep into the legislative chamber where debates take place. A planted roof and water feature above also help cool the building naturally.
