Taipei Economic and Cultural Office, Hong Kong, De facto embassy in Admiralty, Hong Kong.
The Taipei Economic and Cultural Office occupies several floors inside Central Plaza Tower and serves as Taiwan's formal representation across Hong Kong's territory. The premises include meeting rooms, consular counters, and offices for trade and investment matters.
The service began in 1966 under the name Chung Hwa Travel Service and helped travelers at the time. On July 20, 2011, it received its current name to show its role more clearly.
The mission runs the Kwang Hwa Information and Culture Centre, organizing programs from Taiwan and answering inquiries across the city. Visitors can learn about theater, literature, and exhibitions held regularly around Hong Kong.
Consular services, visa applications, and help with trade matters are available from Monday through Friday between 9 AM and 4 PM. The office is located in Central Plaza in Admiralty, easily reached by metro.
Since June 2021, the office has worked mainly with local employees after Taiwan recalled its posted diplomats because of new regulations. This change has noticeably altered how daily operations run on the ground.
