Island Shangri-La, Hong Kong, Luxury hotel and skyscraper in Admiralty, Hong Kong.
Island Shangri-La is a modern skyscraper in Admiralty with 57 floors housing 565 guest rooms arranged around a central atrium. The interior features banyan trees and gardens at its core, with vertical art installations running throughout the building's height.
The building was completed in 1991 by Wong & Ouyang as part of the Pacific Place development. Its opening established new standards for luxury hotels in Hong Kong and shaped the character of the Admiralty district.
The building displays 771 Viennese chandeliers throughout its public spaces, creating an ornate setting that blends European craftsmanship with Asian design. A massive Chinese landscape silk painting hangs through the central atrium, reflecting how the space celebrates both traditions.
The building connects directly to Admiralty MTR station and Pacific Place Mall, providing immediate access to public transportation. Its central location makes it easy to reach other parts of the city without having to exit the complex.
Two restaurants within the building, Summer Palace and Restaurant Petrus, have each earned Michelin stars for Cantonese and French cuisine respectively. These recognitions attract food enthusiasts from around the world.
