Tongzhou Randeng Pagoda

The Tongzhou Randeng Pagoda is an eight-sided structure rising about 50 meters with 13 levels, built on a lotus-shaped stone platform at its base. Throughout its facade, you can see intricate stone carvings and Buddha sculptures positioned at regular intervals.

The structure was originally built during the Southern and Northern Dynasties period and underwent major reconstruction projects during the Ming and Qing eras. These rebuilding efforts show how important this site remained across different historical periods.

The pagoda holds thousands of wind bells and carved Buddha figures throughout its structure, reflecting the religious devotion expressed through local craftsmanship. These elements reveal how artisans used decoration to communicate spiritual beliefs to those who entered.

The structure sits in Xihaizi Park and opens daily from 9 to 18 each day with free entry for all visitors. Buses 806 and 666 provide direct access to the location and its surrounding grounds.

Wooden boards above the frame carry a carved inscription reading 'wan gu liu fang', meaning a good name will be passed down through generations. This message reflects the hope that the place itself would endure in people's memory.
