Zhurihe Training Base, Military training base in Inner Mongolia, China
The Zhurihe Training Base is a military exercise facility in Inner Mongolia spanning roughly 1,066 square kilometers (411 square miles) and equipped with realistic buildings, roads, and specialized training zones. The site includes an operational airstrip and reconstructed urban structures designed for combat training scenarios.
The facility was founded in 1957 as a training center and later underwent significant modernization. A 1997 directive from China's Central Military Commission transformed it into a state-of-the-art training complex.
The base hosted a major regional military gathering in 2014 that brought together armed forces from neighboring countries. This demonstrates how the location gained recognition beyond China's borders.
The training facility is closed to the public and accessible only for authorized military operations. Photography and entry to the grounds are prohibited without proper authorization.
The grounds include a replica of the Eiffel Tower and structures mimicking central Taipei to create realistic training scenarios. These distinctive reconstructions allow trainees to familiarize themselves with diverse urban environments.
