Skyper

Skyper is a tall office building in Frankfurt's financial district featuring 39 floors and a distinctive curved glass facade that mirrors sunlight throughout the day. The structure integrates a historic neoclassical villa with the contemporary tower through a broad glass atrium linking both sections.

Construction started in 2002 with renovation of the 1915 neoclassical villa and its connection to the new tower. This project marked a shift in how Frankfurt integrates historical buildings with contemporary structures within its urban landscape.

The building preserves a historic neoclassical structure from the early 1900s alongside its modern office tower, showing how Frankfurt balances heritage with contemporary financial needs. When you walk through the space connecting the two, you see this dialogue between old and new materials firsthand.

The building is easily accessible and provides clear orientation through its distinctive curved glass facade and surrounding public spaces. Visit during daylight hours when the curved surface best displays its light-reflecting qualities.

The foundation relies on 46 deep bored piles extending more than 13 meters underground to stabilize the structure in Frankfurt's clay soil. This hidden engineering solution allowed the preservation of the historic villa despite the construction of the modern tower above.
