Garden Tower, Modern office skyscraper in Innenstadt district, Frankfurt, Germany
Garden Tower is a skyscraper reaching 127 meters tall with two connected structures of 25 and 14 floors in Frankfurt's banking district. The building incorporates twelve integrated conservatories spread across multiple levels that provide office spaces with garden access or plant views.
Construction began in 1973 as headquarters for Landesbank Hessen-Thüringen and was completed in 1976. The building marked an important early milestone in post-war development of Frankfurt's banking district.
The building features an octagonal floor plan that sets it apart from typical office structures of its era. This distinctive shape allows the structure to present different appearances depending on where you view it from.
The structure is easily accessible from street level and the facade offers good viewing angles from multiple points around the area. Visitors should note this is an active office building and interior access may be restricted to authorized personnel.
During major renovations from 2003 to 2005, the facade was completely renewed while preserving the distinctive octagonal structure. Workers stripped the building nearly to its skeleton and then wrapped it with modern glass panels, essentially giving it a contemporary makeover while keeping its original shape.
