Commerzbank Tower, Office skyscraper in Frankfurt financial district, Germany
Commerzbank Tower is an office skyscraper in Frankfurt-Innenstadt with 56 floors and a height of 259 meters (850 feet). Its triangular glass and aluminum facade rises above a base structure made of steel and reinforced concrete.
The tower was completed in 1997 and was the tallest building in Germany at that time. The design followed a new approach for office towers that combined mechanical climate control with natural ventilation.
The tower represents Frankfurt's position as a European financial center while demonstrating German engineering through its modern architectural design and ecological systems.
The office floors are not open to visitors, but the ground-floor canteen is accessible to the public. The building stands in the banking district, a short walk from the main train station and the Zeil shopping street.
Nine winter gardens spiral around the central column of the building, offering plants and seating areas on different floors. These green zones create an airflow that travels through the entire structure.
