Kaiserbrücke, Railway bridge in Mainz, Germany.
The Kaiserbrücke is a steel railway bridge that crosses the Rhine River between Mainz and Wiesbaden. It features a truss structure and spans approximately 680 meters to connect the two riverbanks.
Emperor Wilhelm II opened the original bridge on May 1, 1904. It was destroyed in 1945 and later rebuilt, being renamed Nordbrücke in 1955.
The bridge displays Art Nouveau features that you can notice in its steel elements and design details. It stands as a monument to early 20th-century engineering achievement and continues to shape how people experience the Rhine landscape.
Trains operated by Deutsche Bahn use this bridge regularly for connections between Mainz and Wiesbaden. You can observe the bridge from riverside paths or nearby streets.
The rebuilt bridge retained parts of the original foundation but lost the more ornamental details of the earlier design. You can still see some sculptural elements today that come from the original structure.
