The Hanover Stadtbahn network spans 121 kilometers with 201 stations, including 19 underground locations and 124 high-platform stations across the metropolitan region.
The transit system opened in 1975 with its first underground section between Waterloo and Hauptbahnhof, gradually replacing the existing tramway network over 25 years.
The Stadtbahn connects residents to major urban centers, universities, and the Hanover fairground, where international events like CeBIT and Hannover Messe take place.
Passengers can access the network from 4:00 AM until 1:00 AM, with fares starting at 1.50 euros for short trips through the Greater Hanover Transport Network.
The system employs three distinct vehicle types: TW 6000, TW 2000 Silberpfeil, and TW 3000, serving approximately 125 million passengers annually.
