Hertenstein Castle, Medieval castle ruins in Billingsbach, Germany
The castle remains contain an 80-meter artificial moat and a triangular inner ward measuring 32 meters long and 25 meters wide.
Built in the early 13th century, the castle served as a residence for Eberhard von Hertenstein, a vassal of the counts of Hohenlohe in 1314.
The castle's architectural elements include rustication buckel stones, which are squared-off stones with rounded outer surfaces used in the keep construction.

The castle protected a trading route from Künzelsau through the Jagst valley to Schrozberg and Rothenburg ob der Tauber at streams intersection.
