Description
The Dominican monastery of St Paul was a complex building in Leipzig featuring late-Gothic architecture and a distinctive star-net vault ceiling. The site housed a fifteenth-century altar and later served academic functions after being integrated into the university.
History
Founding occurred in 1231, with consecration in 1240 by an archbishop from Magdeburg. After joining the university in 1543, the monastery shifted its functions and was eventually demolished in 1968.

The church served as a gathering place for public meetings and debates beyond its role in worship. Its ties to the university shaped daily life here and made it a meeting spot for scholars and townspeople.
