Fuldaaue

Fuldaaue is a recreation area stretching along the Fulda River in Kassel with wide paths for cycling and walking, open meadows, and swimming spots. The site also features a children's playground and plenty of green spaces for relaxation.

The site was once a commercial port handling grain and coal shipments until it was transformed into a leisure destination in 1977. This shift marked a new direction for how the city used its river.

The space shows how the city and nature live together, with gardens, sports fields, and grazing areas shaping how people spend their days. Visitors come to play, exercise, and connect with the outdoors.

The area has multiple entry points and is open year-round free of charge without needing any permit. You will find pathways everywhere, whether you are cycling or walking.

The northern section with Bugasee is a nature reserve where rare species live and visitors can watch wildlife. This zone gives a glimpse into local animal life in the middle of urban surroundings.
