Lothar Path, Educational forest trail in Black Forest National Park, Germany
The Lothar Path extends 800 meters through a protected forest area, featuring wooden bridges and walkways that cross over fallen trees and natural obstacles.
Storm Lothar struck this region on December 26, 1999, with winds reaching 200 kilometers per hour, leading to the destruction of 30 million cubic meters of forest.
The path serves as an open-air educational center where visitors learn about forest regeneration processes and natural ecosystem recovery through information boards.
The trail connects with the Black Forest High Road between Oppenau and Baiersbronn, offering parking facilities and clear signage for visitors throughout the year.
An observation platform along the path provides views extending to Strasbourg, the Vosges mountains, and on clear days, reaches as far as the Alps.
