Lukaskirche

Lukaskirche is a Protestant church in the Sachsenhausen district featuring a 41-meter tower and approximately 400 square meters of interior space. The building sits at the intersection of Gartenstrasse and Otto-Hahn-Platz.

The church was built in 1912 and opened in 1913, but suffered major damage during World War II in 1944. It underwent thorough reconstruction from 1951 to 1953 following the war.

The stained glass windows feature modern interpretations of biblical stories created by Gisela Dreher-Richels and Gerhard Dreher. This contemporary art shapes the interior and gives the church a distinctive artistic character.

The church is open daily and serves as an active parish of the Evangelische Maria-Magdalena-Gemeinde, so visitors should expect limited visiting hours and occasional services. A visit fits naturally into a walk through the Sachsenhausen neighborhood.

The organ was built by the renowned Rieger organ maker and installed in 1998 with 24 registers. This instrument showcases German organ craft from recent decades.
