Museum Giersch, Art museum in Museumsufer, Frankfurt, Germany
Museum Giersch is an art museum housed in a neoclassical villa from 1910 along the Main River and displays regional and contemporary art exhibitions. The building contains multiple exhibition spaces spread across different levels that showcase paintings, photographs, sculptures, and architectural works alongside each other.
The building was constructed in 1910 as a private residence and was later used by the Holzmann business group before becoming an exhibition space in 2000. This transformation turned the former residence into a venue where art exhibitions could preserve the spatial history of the location.
The collection shows work from the Rhine-Main region and documents how local artists have shaped their surroundings across generations. Visitors find themselves in rooms that make this artistic connection to the city and its history immediately visible.
The museum sits at Schaumainkai 83 and is easily reached on foot or by public transport. Visitors should know that the staircases between exhibition levels are narrow and it may be challenging for people with mobility issues to access all areas.
The building is one of the few surviving riverside villas in the Sachsenhausen district, where many museums now stand side by side. Its residential architecture stands out clearly from the modern museum buildings that surround it.
