Damme Priory, Benedictine priory in Damme, Germany.
Damme Priory is a Benedictine monastery in the Oldenburg Münsterland region of Lower Saxony featuring a chapel, former school buildings, and surrounding farmland. The complex was converted into a hotel with 70 rooms, conference facilities, and an integrated kindergarten in 2017.
The monastery was founded in 1962 by monks from Münsterschwarzach Abbey and established on farmland donated by Maria Kophanke. It operated a boarding school between 1970 and 1983 before evolving into a guest accommodation.
The Benedictine community continues to share its religious practices with visitors who stay and participate in the rhythms of monastic life. This openness creates a rare space where both monks and guests live and worship together.
The property is easily accessible for day visits and offers lodging options along with walking and exploration opportunities. Its location near regional trails and pilgrimage routes makes it a convenient base for exploring the surrounding area.
A dry-stone labyrinth built in 2004 stands in the woods near the monastery and marks the starting point of the Cardinal's Way pilgrimage route. This scattered stone pathway connects the site's religious life to a larger pilgrimage tradition in the region.
