Rehberg, Mountain summit in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany.
Rehberg is a mountain summit in the Palatinate Forest in Rhineland-Palatinate, rising to around 577 meters and surrounded by dense woodland and sandstone outcrops. A viewing tower stands at the top, giving a broad look over the forested hills below.
The Palatinate Forest surrounding the summit was recognized as a UNESCO biosphere reserve in 1992, bringing a new level of protection to the area. Before that, the land had been shaped more directly by forestry and local settlements.
The summit tower draws hikers seeking views across the forest and plains below. Over time, climbing here has become a way for visitors to connect with the surrounding landscape.
The summit lies south of Annweiler and can be reached by clearly marked trails that connect with the wider network of paths in the Palatinate Forest. Sturdy footwear is a good idea, as some sections of the trail are uneven.
On clear days, the tower at the top offers a view that takes in three separate ranges at once: the Odenwald, the Black Forest, and the Vosges. This kind of three-country panorama is rare in the region.
