Weilerskopf, Mountain summit in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany.
Weilerskopf is a mountain summit in Rhineland-Palatinate that rises to 470 meters above sea level and is covered with dense forest. Multiple marked hiking trails lead through the slopes, and a Deutsche Telekom transmission tower serves as a visible landmark from below.
During Roman times, workers established a quarry near the summit and carved steps into the local sandstone, leaving visible marks of extraction and stone working. These traces remain part of the mountain's appearance today.
The Gebetsfelsen, a sandstone monolith with twelve carved steps, stands on the mountain and shows how people have used this place for centuries. The steps suggest ancient practices that remain visible in the rock today.
Different marked trails allow you to climb from the valley below; follow the signs or use the Telekom tower silhouette as a guide. The route is walkable year-round, though the forests offer a pleasant hiking experience especially in autumn and spring.
Right on the summit stands a distinctive sandstone rock formation that is only about 1.4 meters tall but stretches several meters in length. This flat-proportioned rock formation appears completely different from various viewpoints and is easily overlooked despite sitting directly beside the transmission tower.
