Bärenbrunnen, Stone fountain with bear sculptures in Werderscher Markt, Berlin-Mitte, Germany
The fountain consists of an octagonal base with four basins featuring water spouts and pairs of playing bear cubs watched by their mother.
Created in 1928 by Hugo Lederer, the fountain was destroyed during World War II and reconstructed in 1958 by sculptor Walter Sutkowski.
The fountain represents Berlin's heraldic animal through multiple bear figures in red volcanic rock, connecting with the neighboring Friedrichswerder Church architecture.
The structure measures 1.65 meters in height and incorporates an octagonal base of 3.50 meters diameter with four water-collecting depressions.
Each of the four sides displays pairs of young bears engaged in playful activities, while water flows from the alternating sides of the octagonal structure.
