Dominikanerkloster Berlin-Cölln, Medieval monastery in Berlin-Mitte, Germany

The Dominican monastery complex included residential towers, a cemetery, and a three-nave hall church measuring 22 by 64 meters in size.

Founded in 1297, the monastery served the Dominican order until 1535 when Elector Joachim II transformed it into the court and cathedral church.

The monastery received paintings from Lucas Cranach the Elder after 1539, when Elector Joachim II converted the structure to Lutheran worship.

Archaeological remains of the monastery foundations are visible at Berlin Palace Square, offering insights into medieval religious architecture.

The monastery church deviated from traditional east-west orientation, aligning instead with the visual axis toward the Long Bridge.
