Wismar-Wendorf pier

The Wismar-Wendorf pier extends approximately 350 meters into the bay with a sturdy structure of wood and steel that rises above the water. The construction provides a wide walking path and several areas with benches and space to stand and take in the surroundings.

Built in the late 1800s to support shipping activities, the pier reflects Wismar's growing importance as a port city during that era. Major structural work took place in the early 20th century, and its modern form developed through comprehensive renovation in the 1990s.

The pier functions as a place where locals gather casually during walks or social outings, offering different perspectives of the bay. It attracts photographers and serves as a vantage point for watching life on the water throughout the seasons.

The pier remains accessible year-round with wide walkways suitable for different activities and visitors of all abilities. Bring wind-resistant clothing since conditions can be breezy coming across the bay, and wear comfortable shoes for an extended stroll.

The pier underwent major renovation work in 2015 and reopened with modern visitor amenities not previously available. This work positioned it as one of the better-equipped public piers in the region.
