Sisyphos, techno club in Berlin
Sisyphos is a nightclub and techno venue in Berlin housed in a former dog biscuit factory in the Rummelsburg district, with multiple differently designed rooms each featuring its own music style and lighting setup. The complex includes the Hammahalle with loud techno beats, the Wintergarten offering softer sounds, the Scheune featuring experimental music, and a large outdoor area with a sandy dance floor, small pool, and art installations.
The site originated from an abandoned factory that founder Rainer Behrendt transformed into an experimental venue characterized by continuous change and adaptation to its visitors and the music played there. Over the years, the space has evolved into a hub for local and international techno artists and has become woven into Berlin's electronic music landscape.
The name references the Greek mythological figure, suggesting the endless, repetitive nature of the nighttime experience that unfolds here. Visitors experience a space where social expectations dissolve and people move freely, regardless of dress code or background, creating a form of temporary community built around music and presence.
The venue is easily accessible by public transport, particularly the Ostkreuz train station nearby, and visitors should plan to spend several hours here as nights extend well into the morning. The outdoor areas are most enjoyable during warmer months, while the indoor spaces remain comfortable year-round.
The grounds feature a small lake and sandy dance floor in the outdoor section, creating a festival-like experience within a constantly evolving musical environment. This blend of natural elements and electronic music allows visitors to move between relaxed moments and intense dancing throughout the night.
