Husarenkaserne Sontra

The Husarenkaserne is a former military complex on an extensive site with residential buildings, administrative facilities, and underground bunker structures arranged in a terraced layout. The structures consist of multi-story brick buildings with flat gabled roofs that form a cohesive arrangement of distinct functional zones.

The site was established as a military base for the 5th Panzer Division in 1961 and received its official designation from the Federal Defense Minister in 1966. Following the end of military operations, the complex was redeveloped into an industrial park.

The barracks served as a significant presence in the town's daily life, with thousands of residents working and living on the grounds for decades. This military installation shaped local identity and economic activity throughout the surrounding region.
