Das Minsk

Das Minsk is an art museum located on Brauhausberg in Potsdam, housed in a building designed during the 1970s. The structure features a distinctive spiral staircase, curved areas, and exhibition spaces distributed across several levels.

The building was constructed during the 1970s as a terrace restaurant in East Germany and reopened as an art museum in 2022. This transformation demonstrates how historic structures can take on completely different purposes.

The museum presents works by artists from East Germany alongside contemporary creations, allowing visitors to experience them side by side. This arrangement lets you see how artistic approaches have evolved and changed over time.

The museum sits five minutes on foot from Potsdam main railway station and offers bicycle racks and wheelchair rentals. The on-site café allows visitors to take a break and enjoy refreshments during their visit.

The building retains features from its former life as a Belarusian restaurant, including architectural elements crafted with materials imported from Belarus. These remnants serve as reminders of the space's previous purpose.
