Neckarfront, Historic waterfront buildings in Tübingen, Germany
The Neckarfront consists of several gabled houses with colored facades stretching between Eberhard Bridge and Hölderlinturm along the Neckar River. This row of buildings forms a connected ensemble and defines the character of the riverbank.
The houses were built on sections of the medieval city wall, which predates the modern structures. The Collegiate Church tower rises behind the riverside buildings and reflects the long history of the place.
The Zimmertheater uses one of the buildings at Bursagasse 16 and shapes the cultural life of the town. These buildings are part of daily life in Tübingen, where locals and visitors gather by the river to spend time together.
A walking path runs along the Neckarfront between Eberhard Bridge and Hölderlinturm, offering direct access to the riverbank. The route is easy to walk and provides views of the water and architecture.
During summer evenings, students sit on the high wall above the river and use it as an informal meeting place. This practice shows how the location naturally fits into the rhythm of life in town.
