Kalakpa Game Production Reserve

Kalakpa is a large protected area combining different forest types: dry woodland with scattered palms transitions into denser semi-deciduous forest, especially toward higher elevations. The landscape features valleys, streams, and open patches where different wildlife species coexist.

Ghana's government established this protected area in 1975, converting former hunting grounds into a wildlife sanctuary focused on preservation. This shift reflected a broader commitment to safeguarding the country's natural resources.
