Ahafo Region, Administrative division in central Ghana.
The Ahafo Region is an administrative division in central Ghana that covers forest belt territory with varied vegetation ranging from grasslands to dense forests. The area is divided into six administrative districts, with Goaso serving as the administrative center.
The region was established through a referendum in December 2018 that received approval from 99.68 percent of voters. Its official creation in February 2019 marked the separation from the former Brong Ahafo Region and the birth of a new administrative area.
The Adekyem Festival takes place each November in Bechem, where local chiefs gather resources to support education across the region. This celebration shows how the community comes together to invest in young people and maintain traditions.
The best time to visit is during the dry season when roads are easier to travel and vegetation is less dense. Goaso serves as a convenient base for exploring the various districts and experiencing what each area has to offer.
The Asumura rock fowl conservation area protects a rare bird species that builds nests beneath overhanging rocks in the forest. This specialized habitat makes the area particularly valuable to birdwatchers and conservation efforts.
