Bono Region, Administrative division in central Ghana.
Bono Region is an administrative division in central Ghana spanning twelve districts. Sunyani serves as the regional center where government offices and main services are located.
The region came into existence in 2019 when the former Brong-Ahafo region was split into three separate areas. This division created Bono, Bono East, and Ahafo as distinct administrative territories.
The local communities celebrate traditional festivals like Kwafie among the Dormaa people and Akwantukese in Suma settlements. These gatherings remain central to how people mark important moments and connect with their heritage.
Two universities operate in the area offering higher education: the University of Energy and Natural Resources and Sunyani Technical University. Students seeking advanced education can find programs across different fields.
The Duasidan Monkey Sanctuary near Dormaa Ahenkro protects a population of Mona monkeys in their forest home. This protected area preserves these primates within their natural woodland setting.
