Zominthos, Archaeological site and plateau in Anogeia Municipality, Greece.
The excavated Minoan building at Zominthos extends over 1350 square meters and contains more than 100 rooms on the ground floor level.
Greek archaeologist Yannis Sakellarakis discovered a substantial two-story Minoan structure at 1200 meters altitude in 1982, with walls standing three meters tall.
The pottery workshop within the Minoan building reveals advanced technological capabilities through artifacts made from processed rock crystal and other materials.
The archaeological site requires advance planning to visit as it sits 7.5 kilometers west of Anogeia village in the northern foothills of Mount Ida.
This high-altitude Minoan settlement functioned as a critical point between Knossos and the Idaion Andron sanctuary cave near Mount Ida's peak.
