Konak, Protected administrative building on Agios Dimitrios Street, Thessaloniki, Greece.

The Konak is a protected administrative building located on Agios Dimitrios Street in Thessaloniki with three original floors and a fourth floor added in 1955. Its facade displays neoclassical architectural features that define its appearance.

The building was constructed in 1891 as a residence for the Ottoman governor of the Salonica Vilayet and played a role during the Balkan Wars. It survived the major fire of 1917 that destroyed much of the surrounding city.

The building occupies a location long associated with governance and authority in the city. Walking past it today, you can observe how different periods have left their marks on this administrative landmark.

The building currently houses government offices and is accessible during standard office hours. Visitors should check in advance whether tours are available and which areas are open to the public.

The building was one of the few structures that remained unharmed during the devastating city fire of 1917. This fact makes it a rare survivor from that critical period in Thessaloniki's history.
