Bafi Refuge, Mountain hut in Mount Parnitha National Park, Greece
Bafi Refuge is a mountain hut in Mount Parnitha National Park, on the massif that rises just north of Athens, at 1,160 meters above sea level. It offers dormitory-style sleeping areas as well as smaller private rooms for hikers who want to spend the night on the mountain.
The Greek Mountaineering Club laid the foundation stone in 1937 and completed the building two years later. Since then the refuge has served as a base for hikers and climbers on the Parnitha massif.
The refuge serves home-cooked meals, carrying on the Greek tradition of feeding and welcoming hikers after a long day on the trails. It acts as a natural meeting point for people coming from different starting points on the mountain.
The hut can be reached by road toward the casino area or by following marked trails from the cable car parking area through Choynis ravine. The routes vary in difficulty, so it is worth choosing one that matches your level of experience.
The building has three separate dormitories with 60 beds in total, alongside smaller rooms with four beds each and a loft with two extra sleeping spots. This layout means groups of different sizes can be put up in flexible combinations without disturbing each other.
