Church of the Virgin

The Church of the Virgin is a Byzantine structure in Neo Ireo decorated with stone crosses on its northern, western, and southern walls, while the eastern facade features marble cladding. Its interior follows a cross-shaped layout with a dome supported by four columns.

The church was built around 1200 as a Byzantine structure during a period of active religious construction in the region. Later modifications altered the upper sections, reflecting how the building adapted to different needs over time.

The church displays Eastern Orthodox traditions through its cross-shaped layout and central dome resting on four columns, a design common in Middle Byzantine times.
